Overview: HUAWEI MateBooks
HUAWEI MateBook 13
Huawei has now moved away from the first detachable concept with a removable touch display and keyboard to now only building classic but very portable laptops. The HUAWEI MateBook is available with a 14 or 16-inch IPS display with QHD resolution. It saves space in the backpack thanks to a fairly high screen-to-body ratio, which is characterised by amazingly narrow display edges. With 16 GB RAM and fast 512 GB or 1 TB NVMe SSD storage, it can be configured as required. If you're already using a HUAWEI or Honor smartphone, you'll be delighted with features such as the HUAWEI Share OneHop connection via NFC, which lets you move files back and forth in no time at all. Logging in is also a breeze thanks to a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button.
HUAWEI MateBook D
The HUAWEI MateBook D, on the other hand, is the entry-level model, which is now even available in an AMD configuration. Equipped with an Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7, AMD Ryzen 5 or AMD Ryzen 7 and a 14- to 16-inch display, it is just right for university or office use. The resolution is slightly lower at Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), but this benefits the battery life. The solid casing weighs less than 1.5 kilograms, making it an ideal companion for everyday use. All HUAWEI laptops, including the MateBook D, come with Microsoft Windows 11 Home pre-installed as the operating system.

HUAWEI MateBook X
Finally, there is the HUAWEI MateBook X, which represents the high-end segment of HUAWEI's slim laptop family. In addition to the Intel Core i7 with integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics chip, 16 GB RAM and an SSD with 1 TB storage capacity are installed. Everyday applications can be run in parallel, video editing or image processing to a certain extent and the odd not-too-graphics-intensive game are also possible. The energy-saving LTPS touch display measures 14.2 inches diagonally, has a resolution of 3,120 x 2,080 pixels and looks almost edgeless.

HUAWEI Hardware
After initially working exclusively with Intel, Huawei now also uses AMD Ryzen processors. All models merely have integrated graphics units, which allow the batteries to run for up to twelve hours. The aluminium casing of the devices, all of which are lightweight, makes some of them look like ultrabooks, have a high-quality finish and, in addition to a fingerprint sensor in the power button, HUAWEI pays attention to other details and, for example, hides the webcam in the top row of the chiclet keyboard, from which it can be extended at the touch of a button. Other special features include an immersive audio experience thanks to Dolby Atmos speakers and an eye-friendly blue light filter.
The HUAWEI Story
HUAWEI was founded in Shenzhen in 1987. The versatile company owes its rapid rise to over 200,000 employees not least to its location in this Chinese special economic zone. HUAWEI has made a name for itself in the smartphone business in particular and has even secured second place on the global market behind Samsung and ahead of Apple. The first laptop in 2016 was the logical consequence after forays into the Android tablet business.
HUAWEIs current development cannot be judged without mentioning the difficult business relations with American companies since former US President Donald Trump declared a "national emergency" with regard to telecommunications in May 2019. This has had a major impact on the global perception of the Chinese company.
