Description

The Intel Core i7-12700H was introduced at the beginning of 2022 and is based on the Alder Lake-P architecture, which is manufactured in the Intel 7 process. The Alder Lake architecture is characterized by the fact that it offers performance cores and efficiency cores, similar to the big.LITTLE architecture from smartphones. This can significantly reduce power consumption, as the performance cores only work when they are needed and the efficiency cores can take over the background processes.

The Intel Core i7-12700H has 6 performance cores, which support hyperthreading, and 8 efficiency cores. The performance cores clock with frequencies from 2.4 GHz to 4.8 GHz and the efficiency cores with frequencies from 1.8 GHz to 3.7 GHz. The total of 14 cores simulate 20 threads. Intel has specified the TDP at 45 watts. Under load, the power consumption can be up to 115 watts. However, the power consumption should be significantly lower, especially under low load, thanks to the efficiency cores. Overall, the performance is therefore significantly higher than the previous generation.
As with the previous generation, WiFi 6E and Thunderbolt 4 are partially integrated. DDR5 and LPDDR5 are also supported. This means that the fastest RAM currently available can be installed.

Top performance for games and workstations
As a high-end processor with a TDP of 45 watts, the Intel Core i7-12700H is particularly suitable for gaming notebooks and workstations, as there is enough space for cooling.
The integrated graphics card is the Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 96 EUs. This is suitable for everyday tasks such as office work, writing emails, surfing the web and watching videos. Older and less demanding games, such as League of Legends, are also possible.
Of course, the Intel Core i7-12700H is also available with dedicated graphics cards. Acer often installs the Intel Core i7-12700H in gaming notebooks in combination with powerful graphics cards such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, which can be used to play current games in 1440p. HP often uses the Intel Core i7-12700H for mobile workstations, such as in the ZBook Power series.

Thanks to the new Alder Lake-P architecture, the Intel Core i7-12700H is a very powerful mobile processor for gaming applications and in workstations.
