Economical and fast
The Intel Core i7-1255U was announced at the beginning of 2022 and was the fastest U-series CPU on the market when it was released. The "U" stands for ultra-low voltage and focuses on low power consumption rather than maximum performance. This makes it suitable for thin and light laptops. Most U processors are in the mid-range of CPUs. The i7-1255U offers eight efficiency and two performance cores and has a clock frequency of 1.2 to 4.7 GHz. With a TDP of 15 watts, the power consumption is very low for an i7 processor. Nevertheless, this processor is currently one of the most frequently installed. The 10 nm technology with which the processor is manufactured is no longer quite up to date, but the price is somewhat lower as a result.
High-quality all-rounder.
The Core i7-1255U is well suited for most applications. Office applications and simple image or video editing pose no problems. Even some games that are not too graphics-intensive, such as Apex Legends or Fortnite, can be run by the processor at a low or medium detail level without the help of an external graphics card. If the i7-1255U is too expensive for you, you should take a look at the Intel Core i5-1235U, which is slightly slower but also cheaper.
Nevertheless, the processor is mainly used in office laptops, which are intended for demanding office work. HP in particular installs the chip in the ENVY series in a price segment of around €1000.
