Intel Core i5-1135G7 - high-end for everyday use
The Intel Core i5-1135G7 is a high-end 11th generation Intel processor that is manufactured using the 10nm+ process and works with Intel's Tiger Lake architecture, which was introduced in September 2020.
The processor has four cores and operates with a base clock of 2.4 GHz, but can use a turbo clock of up to 4.2 GHz (single core). All cores can reach a speed of up to 3.8 GHz. Thanks to HyperThreading, the processor can work with up to eight threads.
Graphics power thanks to Xe architecture (Gen12)
The most interesting innovation, which is particularly relevant for convertibles and ultrabooks, is the integrated Iris Xe graphics unit, which has been completely redesigned for the 11th generation of processors. Intel promises a significant increase in performance compared to older generations of integrated graphics units - and delivers: the Intel Iris XE Graphics G7 80EUs installed in the Intel Core i5-1135G7 can double its performance in the relevant benchmarks compared to the Intel Iris Plus G4 and can compete with an NVIDIA GeForce MX330 (dedicated graphics solution). With core speeds of up to 1250 MHz, it is suitable for any office work, but can also play games at least on low settings. In Apex Legends, for example, the CPU with integrated graphics unit achieves up to 35 FPS on medium settings at 1920x1080. In any case, these are good values for a non-dedicated GPU.
Economical thanks to low TDP
Intel specifies the general power consumption of the Tiger Lake series at 12-28 watts and thus promises an energy-efficient chip. The new generation also brings native support for Thunderbolt 4, which can boast speeds of up to 40 Gbit/s.
With its integrated graphics unit, the Intel Core i5-1135G7 offers an ideal balance between performance and consumption, which will be particularly beneficial for ultrabooks and convertibles. The processor is ideally suited for mobile work, and to some extent for casual gaming. The processor should also be able to handle graphics processing tasks thanks to the integrated GPU.
