Processor with high TDP
The AMD Ryzen 7 6800H is the successor to the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and was announced at the beginning of 2022. The processor is based on the Zen 3+ architecture, with an improved 6 nm manufacturing process and slightly higher clock rates. It clocks from 3.2 GHz in standard mode and 4.7 GHz in turbo mode. Hyperthreading is also supported, which enables computing on 8 cores and 16 virtual threads.
The TDP (Thermal Design Power) is 45 watts, which is ideal for gaming laptops. If less power consumption is required, the AMD Ryzen 7 6800HS can be used. There, the TDP has been limited to 35 watts in the otherwise identical processor. With support for DDR5-4800 MHz and LPDDR5-6400 MHz, only the fastest RAM currently available on the market is installed in this processor.
Powerful gaming processor
With the new AMD Radeon 680M as an internally installed graphics card, many older or less demanding games can be played smoothly on medium to high settings. Image and video editing also work with this graphics card. In practice, however, the processor is always used in combination with powerful gaming graphics cards in order to be able to play the latest AAA titles smoothly. This processor is currently installed in the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro and the Acer Nitro 5 series in particular. Both series focus on optimal gaming performance and use high-quality graphics cards such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.
