The AMD Radeon 890M is an integrated graphics unit (iGPU) based on the RDNA 3+ architecture and was introduced in 2024 together with the latest Ryzen AI processors from AMD. This GPU is specifically designed for use in high-performance mobile devices and offers an impressive combination of performance and efficiency.
Technical specifications and performance of the AMD Radeon 890M
The AMD Radeon 890M has 16 graphics cores and 1024 pipelines, which operate at a maximum clock rate of up to 2.9 GHz. This puts it ahead of the Intel Arc iGPU with a clock frequency of 2.25 GHz and only eight Xe cores. The architecture enables high computing power for iGPUs, which is optimized for more graphics-intensive applications such as gaming, basic 3D rendering and light video editing. The RDNA 3+ architecture also brings support for hardware-based ray tracing and advanced AI capabilities, future-proofing the GPU in the mobile graphics class. Compared to the AMD Radeon 780M, the AMD Radeon 890M can significantly increase performance and should also be able to run more demanding games at lower detail levels. Depending on the configuration, it could even be able to outshine some mid-range GPUs, such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050.
Energy-efficient and equipped with high connectivity
The AMD Radeon 890M is not only powerful, but also energy-efficient. Thanks to the advanced manufacturing technology in the 4nm form factor and the RDNA 3+ architecture, it requires less energy than comparable GPUs without sacrificing performance. This results in longer battery life in mobile devices, making it ideal for convertibles, multimedia notebooks and business notebooks. The Radeon 890M also supports modern graphics APIs such as DirectX 12 Ultimate and Vulkan, making it ideally equipped for the latest games and applications. Content can also be transferred via FreeSync and Miracast is also available.
