Launched in January 2023, the AMD Radeon 780M is an integrated graphics solution that is installed in various AMD processors. It is based on the RDNA 3 architecture, which, according to AMD, promises increased performance and efficiency compared to previous generations.
Energy-saving & powerful
Benchmarks show that the GPU is ideal for office work, multimedia applications and playing 4K videos. Light gaming applications are also possible, although compromises have to be made with the graphics settings for more demanding titles. Games such as EA FC, Fortnite and Rocket League run smoothly on medium settings, while more demanding titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 are more playable on low settings in 1080p.
Compared to the Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 80 EUs, which is integrated in many Intel processors, the AMD Radeon 780M offers noticeably better graphics performance, especially in games and graphics-intensive applications. While the Intel Iris Xe can keep up with simple applications, the Radeon 780M scores with higher resolutions and more complex graphics requirements.
However, compared to a dedicated graphics card such as the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, the Radeon 780M lags far behind in the gaming sector. The GTX 1650 enables higher frame rates and better detail levels in modern games, making it the better choice for more demanding gamers. However, the Radeon 780M offers the advantage of lower power consumption and better integration into mobile devices. High-end graphics cards like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 offer much more performance and features.
Modern technology & compatibility
The modern 4nm manufacturing process guarantees low power consumption, making the GPU particularly suitable for lightweight notebooks and convertibles. It supports modern graphics technologies such as DirectX 12 Ultimate and Vulkan, which ensures broad compatibility with current applications. The Radeon 780M can also use fast LPDDR5-6400 dual-channel memory and supports Miracast. The AMD Radeon 780M can control up to 4 monitors via HDMI and DisplayPorts.
