What Your New Ultrabook Is Capable Of
There's little they can't do. Even gaming up to a certain level can be handled by the elegant low-profile models with their integrated graphics cards, so that popular games such as Fortnite or CS:GO can always be there, even in small format. The Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7 processors (CPU) offer four or more cores that can clock up to 4 GHz or higher and are therefore in no way inferior to an average office PC. Typical ultrabook applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, browsing and even partial video rendering are no problem.
To work smoothly with Full HD content, you should have at least eight GB of RAM installed in the laptop. There is a lower limit of 256 GB for SSD memory, as it quickly becomes cramped below this. In the meantime, the lightning-fast SSDs (Solid State Drive) have established themselves as the standard and have replaced the slower HDDs (Hard Disk Drive). Incidentally, this applies to all laptop categories.

USB-C, Thunderbolt 4 and Fully-Fledged Connections
A very important feature for us is that the ultrabook should be able to be charged via USB-C. However, this has long been standard in most series, both on the Apple and Windows side. A Thunderbolt 4 port with DisplayPort is also welcome, but not a must. This allows you to turn your Ultrabook into a desktop PC at your desk - with just one cable.
What's more important than this for many users is the traditional USB port. The MacBook has done away with it, while many ultrabooks still have a fully-fledged port despite their low height. USB sticks, mice, external hard disks - sometimes there are simply external devices that need to be connected. A full-size HDMI port is even more of a rarity in ultrabooks. Our recommendation: If the Ultrabook of your choice only has a USB-C port, buy a small USB-C hub to expand your connections. This provides all the important connections you might need: USB, HDMI, display port, SD card, etc.
Affordable Ultrabook:
Ultrabooks, Ultra Prices
You can order an ultrabook for as little as 700 pounds. However, for the lightest designs, Intel Core i7 processors or better, 1 TB SSDs, 4K resolution, many connections and the odd extravagance, the price can easily exceed £2,000. On the other hand, mobile, high-performance computing no longer takes up much space in your rucksack or bag. If you travel a lot, you should opt for an ultrabook with a long battery life. It couldn't be lighter, but it could be more flexible: with 2-in-1s and convertibles, there are plenty of ultrabooks with touchscreens and rotatable displays. This allows you to use your laptops as a tablet without a keyboardn and may also be worthwhile for you to consider.

What Makes An Ultrabook
Strictly speaking, a laptop would have to fulfil a number of criteria to be officially called an ultrabook: particularly energy-saving Intel processors, long battery life, SSD, touchscreen, voice control. In fact, this is a registered brand name from Intel. Since its announcement in 2011, the term has been slowly but surely softened and now simply stands for powerful but compact devices. However, most of them still fulfil the requirements for the Intel label.
Apple MacBook Air: Featherweight Mac for Starters
Apple introduced the first 13-inch ultrabook with the MacBook Air back in 2008, three years before Intel and some manufacturers of laptops with Windows as the operating system applied the ultrabook label to the concept of the ultraportable laptop. With its own M1 processor, Apple not only redefined the ultrabook device class, but laptops in general. This has made the MacBook many times more powerful. Two days on a single charge with moderate use are not uncommon.
As all software must be individually optimised for this new type of processor, the new MacBook Air and Pro are not necessarily suitable for every end user. There are still MacBooks with Intel processors for this purpose. iPhone users will nevertheless be delighted with the seamless networking of their devices, which perfects the Apple experience on the go with a MacBook.

In the meantime, laptops with Microsoft Windows operating systems have not only caught up, but also have a few special features in store with login via facial recognition (Windows Hello), touchscreens or support for styluses.
